Waxing Before and After Care

Beauty Science Lounge

Proper preparation and aftercare are essential for achieving the best waxing results and maintaining healthy skin. Please review the following recommendations before and after your appointment.

Before Your Waxing Appointment

For the best results, please follow these guidelines before your visit:

• Hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the size of a grain of rice).
• Avoid shaving the area for 2–3 weeks before your appointment.
• Gently exfoliate the area 24 hours before your service to help remove dead skin cells.
• Avoid applying heavy lotions, oils, or creams to the skin on the day of your appointment.
• If you have sensitive skin, avoid retinol or strong exfoliating products for several days prior to waxing.
• Inform your esthetician of any skin conditions, medications, or sensitivities.

After Your Waxing Appointment

The skin may be slightly sensitive after waxing. Follow these tips to help the skin recover comfortably.

• Avoid hot baths, saunas, and intense workouts for 24 hours.
• Avoid tight clothing that may cause friction on freshly waxed skin.
• Do not exfoliate the area for the first 48 hours after waxing.
• Keep the skin clean and hydrated with gentle products.
• Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 24–48 hours.

Preventing Ingrown Hairs

Consistent skincare helps maintain smooth skin between waxing appointments.

• Begin gentle exfoliation 2–3 days after waxing.
• Look for ingredients like AHA or BHA, which help remove dead skin buildup.
• Keep the skin moisturized to maintain healthy skin barrier function.
• Avoid shaving between waxing appointments.

Recommended Waxing Schedule

For best results, waxing should be maintained regularly.

• Brazilian Wax: every 4–5 weeks
• Bikini Wax: every 4–6 weeks
• Body Waxing: every 4–6 weeks depending on hair growth cycle

Regular waxing helps hair grow back softer, finer, and easier to remove over time.
